The Bearss Lemon is a fast growing very productive citrus tree. The Bearss has wonderfully fragrant blooms and bears an abundance of very juicy fruit July through December. It can be container grown and maintained at about 6 feet. The trees are grafted and generally fruit the second year. The Bearss prefers full sun, fertile, but, well drained soil and moderate water. This cultivar was first discovered as a seedling tree in the Bearss grove near Lutz, Florida in 1952. The parent tree was planted in 1892. Libby Corporation produced many thousands of grafts from this tree in 1953 and planted several groves in Palm Beach County and surrounding areas until the 1960's. "Bearss" cultivar was formerly known as "Sicily" in Florida. It has been grown extensively as a commercial crop. Growing in 6" pot, about 14" tall. Fruiting size.
