How to Keep Your Bread Fresh Recommended Sliced bread should be stored on the counter or in a bread box at room temperature. Bread stays fresh for up to three months wrapped in a second bag and stored in the freezer. Individual slices can be pulled out as needed. Things to Avoid Direct sunlight, heat, and moisture will cause bread to mold early. Storing bread in the refrigerator will cause the bread to dry out quickly.
