The kit features a compact and efficient handheld vacuum sealer that operates on six AA batteries (included), as well as three quart-size polyethylene freezer bags equipped with patented zipper closures and air valves. To use, simply fill and seal a freezer bag with food--anything from fresh-picked vegetables or berries to fillets of fish, leftovers, partially used packages of convenience foods, and more. Place the bag flat on the counter, press the vacuum-sealer tip flat against the air valve, then press the "on" button to remove all air from the bag in mere seconds. The bag forms a tight seal around its contents, which serves to preserve food's flavor, color, and longevity. Best of all, the bags can be heated in the microwave to quickly defrost or warm contents.
