In 1979, BelGioioso president Errico Auricchio moved his family from Italy to the United States with a dream of crafting Italian-style cheeses for an American audience. He settled in Wisconsin, "America's Dairyland" because of the availability of superior, grass-fed milk. BelGioioso's mozzarella is made from fresh, local, rBST-free milk gathered a few hours after milking. The cheese is pulled and stretched to a smooth, porcelain white finish with delicate, milky flavor. BelGioioso mozzarella is made with vegetarian rennet and is always gluten-free. This convenient 1 pound log shape is ideal for slicing and layering atop lasagna or drizzled with olive oil and fresh basil. In 2017, BelGioioso mozzarella won awards at both the American Cheese Society conference and the U.S. Championship Cheese Contest.
