Simple and easy to use! The Hamilton CapTel 840i works like any other telephone with one important addition: it displays every word the caller says throughout the conversation. The captioned phone allows patients to utilize their residual hearing to listen to what a caller sys while reading captions at the same time. CapTel services are absolutely FREE of charge and do NOT require involvement of Relay Phone Services. HAMILTON CAPTEL CONDITIONS & SELF-CERTIFICATION : The Hamilton CapTel can not be sold outside of the United States. The closed-captioning service in this product is federally funded by the United States Government, and therefore, will not operate as advertised outside of the United States. The CapTel telephone is intended for use by people with hearing loss. Using the CapTel phone with the CAPTIONS feature on means that a live operator listens to the call and helps provide captioning. People who do not require captioning support for their telephone communications should only use a CapTel telephone with the CAPTIONS feature turned off.
