That's because they are made with the maximum strength lidocaine available without a prescription. Icy Hot Lidocaine Patches target more pain receptors* and comfortably stay in place for up to 8 hours. These max strength pain relief patches are suitable to relieve pain, are easy to apply, and stay in place.*Compared to Icy Hot menthol only products.HOW TO USE: Clean and dry affected area. Then, remove backing from patch by firmly grasping both ends and gently pulling until backing separates in the middle. Next, carefully remove the smaller portion of backing from patch and apply the exposed portion of patch to the affected area. Once the exposed portion of the patch is positioned, carefully remove the remaining backing to completely apply the patch to the affected area. Use 1 patch, but not more than 3-4 times daily.
