Kidde Smoke Detector, Hardwired Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup, Test-Silence Button, Interconnects with Select Kidde Smoke Alarms (model RF-SM-ACDC) is a hardwired smoke alarm that operates on your home's 120V power source. In the event of a power failure, the Kidde fire alarm comes equipped with a 9V battery backup to keep your family protected. Using ionization sensing technology, the wired smoke alarm detects invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. Fire experts strongly recommend that both ionization and photoelectric smoke detectors be installed to help ensure maximum detection of the various types of fire that can occur within the home. A green LED informs users of the smoke alarm's status: Standby Mode - illuminates constantly when the fire alarm is receiving AC and DC power; Alarm Mode - flashes every second with 85-decibel beep when alarm senses products of combustion; Alarm Memory - flashes every second to indicate the alarm has been activated; Hush Mode - flashes every 2 seconds while the alarm has been silenced. Red LED flashes in conjunction with the smoke detector's beep or chirp: during an active alarm, in low battery mode, and when there is a unit error. The Kidde hardwired smoke detector makes it easy to expand the coverage of your current interconnected system. Simply replace one Kidde interconnected alarm with this model, and any compatible Kidde alarm with wireless technology can be added.
