A firm, aged goat cheese from Murcia, Spain that is bathed in red wine. Its story goes that a cheese maker and his friends were sitting around drinking and knocked a wheel of cheese into a barrel of red wine. After bobbing around for several days, the cheese was fished out, tasted, and determined to be much improved. Today, this wine washing creates a purple rind on the outside of the cheese and imparts a fruity, winey flavor. The Drunken Goat is a cheese for entertaining. It's likely to please a crowsd, even people who don't care for fresh goat cheese logs. The smooth, dense texture makes it ideal for topping with a fruit paste or a round of cured salami. To drink, a fruity red wine such as Merlot. The Drunken Goat is gluten-free.
