It is a coaxial UHF Lightning Protector that operates over the frequency range of DC-1 GHz. It uses a 90V gas discharge tube to shunt electrical surges and transients to ground, protecting sensitive communications equipment from these events. It is a great UHF lightning protection solution for Ham radio and other lower frequency Antenna. This model features PL259(UHF Female) Socket TO SO239 Socket(UHF Female) for mounting through an enclosure wall or the arrestor can be used inline. SO239 259 arrester will pass DC,so SO-239 surge protector is suitable for applications where DC is carried through the coax cable. Both UHF connector ports of this unit are equally protected -- it can be installed in either orientation. A ground lug and terminal on the housing provide superior grounding.
